The Fortress Explorer (FE) Website is an informational portal dedicated to the promotion of the subject of Military Architecture and Fortification, with a particular emphasis on the Maltese Islands and on the rich Hospitaller military heritage spread around the shores of the Mediterranean. FE is committed to diffusing a proper understanding of military architecture to as wide an international audience as possible. FE seeks to bring on-line resources to your attention with direct links. This website has been designed and produced by Dr Stephen C Spiteri Ph.D in conjunction with the Fortress Explorer Society (FES) - an independent and non-profit-making organization set up to work for the establishment of a museum on Maltese fortifications. FES also seeks to promote its objectives through published and electronic media and produces a FREE on-line journal called ARX.
